MITCHELL FENTON is a New York based lighting designer who has worked and toured all over the world. With a wealth of professional theatre experience in Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional, national and international theatre. He has successfully been a lighting designer, associate/assistant lighting designer for many musicals, plays, concerts, fashion, dance, corporate and architectural settings all over the world.
As A lighting designer selected theatre credits include: Swing! Directed by Lynne Taylor Corbett, Legends In Concert Directed by LIC Vegas creative team (Imitation artists Elton John, Tina Turner, Madonna), Wine Lovers The Musical, Prohibition The Musical, Beauty and the Beast, Jungle Book, Generation X - A New Musical, Twisted Broadway (Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids) Summer of the 17th Doll, Cosi Fan Tutte, Hamlet, Comedy of Errors, Die Fledermaus. Dance works have been seen at Brooklyn Academy of Music, Brooklyn Ballet/Actors Arts Fund, McCarter Theatre California, Metropolitan Theatre Taiwan, PeriDance Capezio Center, Dogwood Center Michigan. Dance Companies worked for include: Satellite Collective, XAOC Contemporary Dance Company and mishiDance.
Mitchell is a regular lighting designer for Norwegian Cruise Lines. Mitchell has lit brand new productions and also acted as lighting design supervisor to on going productions on the Norwegian fleet. Ships Include the Norwegian Sun, The Norwegian Pearl & The Norwegian Bliss. Mitchell is also a regular lighting designer for CS Lighting, A branch of CS Global. At CS Lighting Mitchell has worked for clients such as Tom Ford, Estee Lauder, Hugo Boss, Cartier, Aspen Dental, Brooks Brothers, New York Fashion Week and many more.
Upon coming to New York, Mitchell started working with KB Associates, Inc. An internationally renowned, Tony Award winning design and production firm. During his time there he worked very closely with the President of KB Associates, Inc., Ken Billington. At KBA Mitchell worked as a lighting office assistant and an assistant lighting designer. Mitchell worked with Mr. Billington on Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional theatre, national tours, international tours, theme park spectaculars, architectural settings, television and special events/productions. Selected highlights include: Little Miss Sunshine (Off-Broadway), On Your Toes (New York City Center), Little Me (New York City Center), Sondheim Review 'Bed and a Chair' (New York City Center), Nikolai and the others (Lincoln Center), London Rocks (Busch Gardens Theme Park), Eternal Echoes (PBS Special) Roundabout Theatre Co. Benefit, Evolution (Special attraction in Shanghai) Murder on the Orient Express (Regional) Amazing Grace (North American Tour). Mitchell also assisted John Demous with Mr Billingtons on going productions such as Chicago & White Christmas.
Mitchell has also been an Associate Lighting Designer for designers such as Mike Baldassari for: Rock of Ages 10th Anniversary North American Tour, A Night with Janis Joplin (Regional) American Theatre Wing Gala 2018 Honoring Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sunday Morning CBS special at Town Hall. Ken Posner for USA Tours of Kinky Boots. Paul Miller for Pittsburgh CLO Season of Titanic, Full Monty, Beauty and the Beast, Brigadoon & Thoroughly Modern Millie. Jason Kantrowitz productions such as: The Countess of Storyville (Off Broadway), Fiends (Busch Gardens Theme Park), Howl-O-Scream (Busch Gardens Theme Park), Shamu Rocks (Seaworld).
Mitchell has worked as a lighting director for Al Jazeera American and an assistant lighting designer for many EMMY Award winning lighting designers such as Jeff Ravitz, Dennis Size, Steve Brill and Niel Galen. He has assisted lighting designers for American Television networks such as CNN, ABC/DISNEY, Al Jazeera, Bloomberg, CBS, FOX and NBC. Highlights include: Good Morning America (ABC), Robin Roberts Oscar Special (ABC), Oscars Good Morning America Special (ABC), 50 Shade of Grey World Premiere (NBC), Good Morning American Summer Concert Series with artists such as: AfroJack, 50 Cent, Magic!, Paramore, Jason Derulo, Kings of Leon, Jennifer Lopez, Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift 22 album Times Square Launch (ABC), Of Mice and Men National Theatre Live Recording (Broadway), Yahoo Studios, Big Morning Buzz Live (MTV), Fight Game (HBO), President Obama at FIU (NBC). Mitchell has also worked with lighting designer Kristi Roland on Fox Fan Fronts red carpet at the Beacon Theatre in NYC.
Mitchell has toured with the internationally renowned hit productions of Ballet Revolucion, the Australian/New Zealand Really Useful Group production of Cats, the West End hit Singin' in the Rain around Australia and Japan.
